Sunvest is committed to the development of Natural Solar Parks that promote biodiversity and social needs. Our solar parks create a win-win situation by increasing the ecological, agricultural and financial value of the land. In this way, we stimulate the resilience of agricultural communities and Dutch nature. What makes Sunvest special is that they have been developing, building and managing their own parks for seven years. This makes them one of the largest suppliers of solar power in the Netherlands. Using this personal approach, we develop parks with natural and local added value.
Lanakerveld Solar Park is an ambitious sustainable energy generation project in Maastricht, and it is approaching an important milestone: the issue of long-lease land will take place this month. The right of emphyteusis will be issued for 30 years, after which the use of the land will return to the Maastricht local council. This now means Sunvest can start the implementation of the solar park. The solar park is expected to be operational from mid-2024, making a significant contribution to the local council’s climate goals and regional sustainability efforts under the Regional Energy Strategy (RES) with its 104,000 solar panels.

Sunvest ensures people near the solar park can also benefit from the solar park. They can therefore bring added value to the local area as well through various financial participation opportunities
Sunvest entered into a partnership with INNAX, and the Maasstroom energy cooperative was established from this. Lanakerveld Solar Park grants a sublease to this cooperative. This means Sunvest passes on part of its right to use the land to Maasstroom. As a member of the cooperative, Maastricht residents can participate financially in the solar park. Maasstroom offers free membership to Maastricht residents, with discounts on electricity bills. These discounts increase with rising energy prices.
Currently, more than 2,862 residents are already members, more than 50% of whom are social tenants. After the construction of the solar park, Maasstroom will take over its part of the solar park, generating about 14 million kWh of the total 57 million kWh by the cooperative. This will result in significantly reduced CO2 emissions, equivalent to the electricity consumption of around 23,000 households in total, of which around 6,000 households for Maasstroom.
Share solar panels
It is also possible to participate financially by investing in Lanakerveld Solar Park. €1,000,000 worth of solar shares will be made available subject to funding availability. With solar shares, it is possible to participate in the solar park from €25.00, on which annual interest and repayment is paid. Naturally, people from the Maastricht area will have priority in the final registration. Registration for the solar shares will start in the week of 9 October.
Flora and fauna
The Lanakerveld Solar Park is a project that aims at an integral improvement of the area, focusing on biodiversity and ecological aspects. Due to the decline in biodiversity as a result of long-term agriculture and paving of the land, this project pays a lot of attention
