Sustainable project
On May 16, 2025, Solar Park Hooibroeken was officially opened. Sunvest developed the project together with the local energy cooperative Energiek Heusden, which is 50% co-owner. The solar park generates sustainable electricity for about 10,000 households, thereby contributing to a greener future for Heusden.

The opening took place under a radiant sun. With bubbles and a festive atmosphere, the solar park was officially inaugurated by unveiling the nameplate “Solar Park Hooibroeken.” During the program, a film was shown about the construction of the park, followed by speeches from the management of Sunvest, the chairman of Energiek Heusden, and alderman Jeroen van den Bosch.
Sunvest gave a presentation on how the park is integrated into the landscape. Key elements include raising the groundwater level, creating nature-friendly banks, and the planting of native species. Part of this planting will take place later this year now that all construction work has been completed.
Visitors were able to view the solar park at close range during a guided tour led by Sunvest staff and volunteers from Energiek Heusden.
Together toward a sustainable future
The opening was centered on collaboration, local ownership, and forward-thinking. Solar Park Hooibroeken demonstrates how the energy transition not only is necessary, but also can be socially and locally supported. Through good consultation, clear communication, and a shared vision, this project was realized.
Sustainable energy and room for agriculture
In the design of the solar park, consideration was also given to the agricultural environment. Along the Polderweg in Oudheusden, a strip of land was left free of solar panels at the request of the landowner. This strip remains in use for agriculture. At the same time, the water level in the area was raised to strengthen nature and the soil, without causing adverse effects on surrounding parcels. In this way, we show that solar energy and agriculture can go hand in hand.
